Delicate paper cutting is not easy. Self-taught artist Akira Nagaya has mastered the Japanese art of Kirie or in other words delicate paper cutting. He first began his career when he was in his early 20s as a shshi decorator. At that job he was responsible for cutting slices into bamboo leaves. His interest into delicate paper cutting came in as a hobby as he would practice that at home everyday by using a utility knife to carve various patterns into paper. At the age of 47, he had mastered paper cutting as you can see from the images below.
